- If you are overweight, it is advisable to go on a diet. Being overweight puts you at higher risk because of the pressure on your joints.
- Rug up in the colder months, wear cloves, and thick socks to protect your joints.
- Eat healthily. Taking vitamins C and D can help reduce your risk.
- Keep hydrated. Water is responsible for 70% of the cartilage in your joints.
- Yoga is a great way to keep your joints flexible.
Treatments
If the Arthritis is caught early, then medication can be prescribed to reduce swelling and infection. If the patient takes their medication regularly then the effects of the condition would be minimal.
There are several medications on the market which will effectively treat the illness and manage the pain. Your GP will be able to find one that would work for you.
A healthy diet is very important. Fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts and grains are all packed with nutrients. People often don’t realize how much a healthy diet can help them recover.
In some cases, where the joint it too badly damaged, there is an operation that could be beneficial. The badly damaged joint is replaced with an artificial one.
