- Be sun safe. Avoid getting a tan every summer and you will dramatically cut down your chances of getting skin cancer.
- If you’re overweight then you need to start shedding those pounds. Being overweight increases your chances of having cancer later on in life.
- Be active, not only does it make you feel and look great but it reduces your chances of cancer and many other illnesses later on in life.
- Limit your salt intake. Salt is associated with cancer of the stomach, so where ever possible, try to avoid it.
- Keep hydrated. A study has recently shown that people who drank their 8 glasses of water or more a day reduced their chances of bladder cancer.
- Reduce exposure to harmful chemicals. There are many chemicals in use in factories, cleaning and even in and around the home which can be quite harmful to your body, and could even contribute to your risk if getting cancer.
- Quit smoking, drinking and use of illegal drugs. Lung cancer and liver cancer are a serious risk for people who smoke, drink or take illegal drugs.
- Limit you intake of red meat. If you have a high red meat diet you could be increasing you chances of getting cancer up to 70%. Eating lean white meat such as pork, fish and chicken, would reduce it.
- Avoid saturated fats, they can increase your chances of cancer by up to 90%.
- Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetable. Our mothers told us to eat our vegetables for a reason. They boost your immune system. Try to buy organic when ever possible, that way you avoid nasty pesticides.
- Avoid stress. Studies show that men who have a high stress lifestyle are more likely to develop prostate cancer.
